Vauxhall is set to show its radical Meriva Concept at the Geneva show, which is very close to how the next production Meriva will look.
The Meriva Concept uses 'FlexDoors' at the rear, which hinge on their rear edge to give better access to the rear seats.
The front doors hinge in a conventional way and Vauxhall says this new arrangement for the Meriva's doors creates a much larger, more useful space for entry and exit.
The rear doors can be opened much wider than normal doors and Vauxhall also claims this new set-up is safer for children.
Vauxhall claims the FlexDoors give parents more control over when the rear doors are opened, preventing children from leaving the car at inappropriate times.
The FlexDoors also feature an electronic child lock, which is worked from the driver's seat and supplements the standard mechanical child lock.
The Meriva Concept is very close to how the finished Meriva will look and Vauxhall insiders say the production car will make its debut later in 2008.
