Land Rover hits the big six-oh in 2008, but instead of shuffling off down to the pension queue, the iconic 4x4 maker has come up with a limited edition Defender. Unveiled at the Red Cross Ball by Zara Phillips, the first of the 200 Defender SVX special editions was donated to the Red Cross so it could be auctioned to raise money for the charity.
The Defender SVX will be available in short wheelbase 90 form, with a soft-top, or as a long wheelbase 110 Station Wagon. All will have metallic black paint with contrasting silver detailing, tubular side-steps, a unique front grille and clear headlight lenses. There are also diamond-turned five-spoke alloy wheels and reinforced underbody protection.
Inside, the SVX is just as distinctive thanks to Recaro front seats, alloy gear knob, satnav and uprated CD stereo system. The soft-top models also have a roll-cage painted in silver and a black fabric roof.
All SVX Defenders will have an individual number plaque and prices will be announced at the end of year, with deliveries starting in spring 2008.
