Allied Vehicles E7 Taxi

The UK's first electric taxi will debut at the British International Motor Show. The E7 is based on an existing Peugeot vehicle, but its diesel engine is replaced by an electric motor and batteries. The result is a vehicle that's able to reach 60mph and cover 100miles between charges. There's no road tax, while the running costs compared to a conventional cab should also be cheaper.

Allied Vehicles, the E7's manufacturer, is looking for local authority partners to install recharging networks locally for taxi drivers to use. Sadly, London taxi drivers are currently being denied he E7, Transport for London's taxi licensing division refusing it a license for use in the capital city. With fuel prices rising and ever-more environmentally conscious passengers the E7 could be just the thing for a green taxi firm, though its range might limit it slightly at the moment.
