The original DS was something of a revolutionary car from the French marque, Citroen. What's surprising is that it's taken so long for the firm to make the most of that heritage, the DS Inside concept coming some 32 years after the original car ceased production. The DS here stands for 'Different Spirit' and headlines a future range of affordable, premium models that will cover the small, medium and large car segments.
So unlike its DS predecessor the DS Inside is a relatively compact three-door hatchback model rather than a large, four-door saloon. It has very little of the original DS's styling either - the DS of the '50s, '60s and '70s christened 'Goddess' by many and recently voted among the most beautiful cars in the world. Instead the new DS represents something of a change of direction for Citroen, this new premium range gaining a new model every six months for the next three years. Hardly a showstopper then, but the DS Inside really is a signal of change for the French firm.
