Cut price Audi TT Roadster

Got that credit-crunched feeling but want some summer drop-top motoring? Audi might have just the solution. The TT Roadster range is being expanded in time for summer with the addition of a 1.8 TFSI model. Featuring the same head-turning looks as its TT Roadster relatives, but with a more wallet-friendly £23,910 list price, the 1.8 TFSI Roadster lowers the entry-level price of the open TT by £3,445.

It might be cheaper than its 2.0 TFSI Roadster relative, but with 158bhp, a 0-62mph time of 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 139mph it's not far behind its more expensive cousin in the performance department. With an official combined fuel consumption figure of 40.9mpg and emissions of just 159g/km it'll not cost you too much at the pumps or for tax, either.

Coming in a single standard trim the 1.8 TFSI Roadster features everything you could possibly want, with electronic climate control, a rear wind deflector, electric windows and a powered hood all being standard equipment. That folding roof works on the move up to 19mph, shutting in just 12 seconds. That's perhaps just as well, as the new 1.8 TFSI arrives in Audi showrooms just in time for Britain's April showers.
