Maybach has decided to build the Landaulet convertible it showed off at the Detroit show as a concept car.
The Landaulet will be the world's most expensive convertible with a price tag of £680,000 when the first cars reach their wealthy buyers this autumn.
Only the rear section of the roof folds away to leave the back seats open to the skies.
The chauffeur's area is left enclosed under a fixed roof.
The large folding fabric roof stows under a cover to the front of the boot lid. The roof is electrically operated at the touch of a button.
Other changes for the Landaulet include slightly larger rear headrests than the saloon models to reduce wind turbulence.
A small wind deflector rises up automatically at speeds of more than 45mph.
The Maybach Landaulet sits on 20-inch alloy wheels and has the same 612bhp 6.0-litre V12 engine as the 62 S saloon.
