Renault is the current king of hot hatchbacks with its Clio 197 and Mégane, and now the Twingo is up for the same treatment. Renaultsport, Renault's tuning division, has taken the Twingo and added some of its magic. Power from its 1.6-litre turbocharged engine is 131bhp, which should be plenty to ensure that the tiny Twingo gives more expensive machinery a real run away from the traffic lights. Like Abarth, Renault is keeping quiet about just how fast the Twingo Renaultsport will be, but again we'd expect a 0-62mph time in the region of 8 seconds.
It's likely though that it'll be more than the boost in power that has you grinning, as Renaultsport's people have been tweaking the suspension. And on previous experience, we expect the changes to be very impressive. What's more it's also had a real injection of visual muscle, with big blistered arches filled with huge alloy wheels and far more purposeful front and rear bumpers.
