MINI and Airstream, Definitely for mini adventures

As the recession bites people are looking at ways of holidaying at home. And what better 'stay-cation' transport than this MINI and caravan combo that MINI produced in partnership with caravan firm Airstream. The pairing was designed by Republic of Fritz Hansen - a Copenhagen based premium furniture brand known for its minimalist and functional design - and was presented at the Interni Design Energies exhibition at the Universita degli Studi di Milano.

That all sounds very nice, but we're more interested in taking this car and caravan away for a weekend. The MINI bit is taken care of by a MINI Cooper S Clubman, painted predominantly black - with yellow accents. Naturally, being a lifestyle machine there's a surfboard strapped to the roof too. The 22-foot Airstream caravan that follows the MINI is seriously cool: it features new interpretations of Arne Jacobsen's Egg and Swan Chairs. Caravanning has never been more stylish or more unique, this one-off combo a showcase rather than a showroom reality. Shame, as we'd be signing up for Caravan Club membership if this set-up ever reached production.
