MINI Rickshaw, Shaw beats walking

With the MINI XXL being shown at Athens Olympics, MINI's people needed to dream up something even more bonkers for the Beijing games in China. The result can only be described as a little unhinged, MINI combining the traditional rickshaw with a MINI Clubman Estate. With the front part made up of a bike and the rear passenger section the back-end of a MINI Clubman, several of these RickMINIs were pedalled around Beijing to promote the MINI Clubman arriving in China during the Olympics.

We can only image the Herculean effort required to pedal around in these oddball machines, especially with a fare on board. Those in the back would undoubtedly be more comfortable in the leather-lined passenger compartment that mixes MINI styling with traditional rickshaw detailing like Chinese dragons and hanging charms. It obviously worked too with the MINI selling very well in China, though understandably nobody's been in enquiring about pedal powered versions, instead preferring the MINI's conventional front end to the promotional rickshaw ones.
