Audi has introduced a new 2.0-litre version of its TFSI turbocharged petrol engine on the A5 coupé. The new engine has 208bhp and has been developed specifically to deliver more torque than rival petrol engines of a similar capacity.
With 258lb.ft of torque, the new 2.0-litre TFSI has mid-rev shove more like that of a turbodiesel. It's enough to see the A5 coupé go from 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds and head all the way to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
However, Audi is keen to point out that the torque also helps this petrol engine return diesel-like economy and emissions. Combined consumption is 42.8mpg and carbon dioxide emissions are 154g/km.
The A5 2.0 TFSI is available in front- or four-wheel drive. First deliveries will begin in August and prices start at £28,760.
