Renault Nepta
It's tradition for the French makers to put a lot of effort into their home show and this year is no different. One of
Renault's show stars is the Nepta concept car shown here. What bearing it has to future Renaults, we have no idea, but it will certainly get tongues wagging in Paris.
The Nepta is a luxurious four-seat convertible, but there are a few twists to this tale. For a start, the doors are highly unconventional; there is just one per side, but it incorporates most of the side of the car, including part of the bonnet, so that each time you board you are greeted by the sight of the engine.
That's the other surprise; the concept features a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 with a claimed 420bhp delivered to the rear wheels. That's very un-Renault-like. The styling of the Nepta may indicate how Renault sees a new small sportster, but are we really going to see this powertrain in production with a Renault badge on the front? Let's hope so!
