Mitsubishi Shogun, The rugged 4x4 choice

Any big four-wheel drive off-roader will do a good job in transporting you, your friends and all your gear to the mountains. We've chosen the big Mitsubishi Shogun though for its old-school rugged looks and feel, seven-seat capacity and the nifty altimeter read out on the trip computer. You can track your progress up to the snow via the Shogun's onboard computer, the barometer and temperature read outs also making the long drive to the mountains a little more interesting.

A big diesel engine, massive boot and four-wheel drive are all you need. There's loads of space and it'll get you absolutely anywhere if it's got snow tyres or chains on it. The huge side opening tailgate is a real boon when you're in the car park at the bottom of the slopes too, as it's the perfect platform to sit on while getting on those super-tight ski or snowboard boots. It's also good bit cheaper than a Land Rover Discovery and fully kitted out with equipment the Shogun is a popular choice in the mountains for those wanting a no-nonsense 4x4 with some creature comforts and a sensible price.
