Shakira to take SEAT stand by storm

A little bird tells us that hip-shaking popster, Shakira, will make an appearance on SEAT's stand on the second media day in Geneva, which should see a flurry of camera shutters... SEAT and Shakira have been in partnership since last year on the singer's European Tour, which will end in the UK on March 18th.

It is not 100% certain whether Shakira will be on hand to promote a new model (such as the rumoured 4x4 version of the Altea) or whether the singer will use the forum to promote the Fundación Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet Foundation), a charity that is devoted to providing opportunities for deprived children in Colombia. It originated in Barranquilla, the hometown of Shakira on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, and is now reaching other parts of the country.

SEAT has already donated a special Leon Cupra to the cause, to be used in a fund-raising prize draw. Shakira had a hand in designing the car, which may explain the distinctive lilac paintwork! The car, named the Leon Pies Descalzos, also features the lilac on several details inside. In addition, the interior features part-leather trim incorporating the Pies Descalzos logo, which also graces the B-pillar, while polished black paint is used on the Cupra's 18-inch alloy wheels. There will only ever be one such car produced, so the competition winner will be in a unique position.

Entry to the competition is via an SMS message to a dedicated number in each country in which Shakira is performing. The cost is a Euro (or a pound in the UK), which doesn't seem much when the car is thought to be worth at least €27,000. Not only has SEAT donated the car itself, the company also wrote a cheque for the same amount to kick-start the campaign. Hopefully we'll get to see the special car in Geneva, though let's face it, all eyes will be on Shakira.
