A British company will launch a brand new 100 miles per gallon car at the Sexy Green Car Show. The as yet unnamed car will be built by British firm Axon.
It will used recycled carbon fibre for its bodywork to make it as light as possible.
Axon says the ecofriendy small hatchback will be a rival for the MINI and have similar performance to the MINI One.
The Axon car will produce 80g/km of carbon dioxide emissions, which is around half that of some family hatchbacks.
Axon says the car's styling will help it cut through the air more cleanly and efficiently than most cars, while the carbon fibre body uses Formula One-style crumple zones for passenger protection.
Steve Cousins, managing director of Axon, said: “Our approach halves fuel consumption, whichever fuel you choose.
“We get phenomenal economy from a small petrol engine combined with our infinitely variable transmission.” The Sexy Green Car Show runs from 23 to 31 May at the Eden Project in Cornwall.
