Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X

If like us you're rather bored of seeing Mitsubishi roll out endless concepts of the new Evo X then you'll soon be placated. The new production car is officially unveiled in the UK at the Autosport show in January, and customers will be getting their hands on the car shortly afterwards. The standard Evo X promises to be an absolute blast, with 290bhp from its new aluminium-block 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. As ever, power upgrades are being offered. These will initially be in 330 and 360bhp guises, though they're limited to the manual gearbox equipped cars, the six-speed twin-clutch paddle-shift cars only offered with the standard output.

No official performance figures have been announced, but expect it to be sensationally quick and handle beautifully. Its four-wheel drive system has more letters to describe it than a tin of alphabet spaghetti and they all ensure that every last morsel of power is transmitted to the road as effectively as possible. Prices start at just £27,449 and rise to £37,999, the Evo X certain to continue its forbears' reputation as giant-killer.
