Ford blows its own trumpet

Ford is making a big noise about the arrival of its facelifted Focus with a new television advert that has an orchestra playing instruments made exclusively from parts of the new Focus. After raiding the parts bin, Ford came up with 31 different musical instruments.

The Transmission Case Cello-Dulcimer, Clutch Guitar, Rear Suspension Spike Fiddle and Hatchback Kick Drum are just some of the unique instruments made for the orchestra, which will feature in a new television advert.

Bill Milbrodt was the mastermind behind the instruments and says: "We took apart a Focus with less than one mile on the clock. We removed the doors and bumpers, but left the body intact and later cut out the parts we needed."

The orchestra players were assembled at Universal Studios in California to play a one-off piece of music thought up by film composer Craig Richey and sound designer Bill Milbrodt. You can hear the Focus orchestra from Monday 4 February when the advert will first appear on television.
