Devaux Cars

Created by industrial designer David Clash, the Australian-built Devaux was inspired by 1930's coach-built classics such as the Bugatti 57 SC Atlantic, the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Lungo, and the Bentley 41/4 litre Streamline. The split windscreen and streamlined tail evoke times past, a theme echoed by the classic centre-mounted gauges which dominate the cockpit. A large wooden steering wheel and seats trimmed in Muirhead Aviation leather complete the interior.

Retro and elegant, the Devaux brings together classic design elements from a long forgotten era and blends them with modern mechanicals. Hidden beneath the long, louvered bonnet is a 5.7-litre Chevrolet V8 producing 361bhp and 346lb.ft of torque. A fully-independent front suspension supports the mild-steel chassis frame and an all-disc brake setup nests behind classic wire wheels. At 1125kg the Devaux is also surprisingly lightweight for its exterior dimensions, largely due to the use of fibreglass for its swooping shell.
