If performance is what you’re after, then you needn’t look any further than the Joss Super Car. The lightweight two-seater is heralded as the first truly Australian supercar, sourcing power from an eight-cylinder engine developed in Melbourne and penned by Aussie designer Matt Thomas.
The mid-mounted 6.8-litre all-alloy V8 engine delivers 500bhp and a healthy 480lb.ft of torque, but Engineers also sourced tried and tested European products, like a Bosch fuel pump and Porsche G50 five-speed manual gearbox to transmit power to the rear wheels.
Aerodynamically fluid bodywork, made from composite carbonfibre, kevlar, GRP and honeycomb, is claimed to enable unsurpassed roadholding and handling, enhanced by both a front splitter and a rear high gradient diffuser. Titanium skid plates also direct underbody air flow and reduce lift. Joss expects performance figures to better many mainstream and well-established European nameplates, with 0-62mph achieved in 3 seconds and a top speed of 199mph.
