The Japanese car companies are notoriously conservative, so we wonder if Toyota GB actually bothered to mention its plans to produce the most extreme version of its little Aygo supermini and plaster it with a garish colour scheme.
In fact, the rally car looks on the Aygo Crazy concept are more than justified. Peek inside and along with a set of sports seats and a roll cage you might notice the presence of an engine. That's right; this Aygo is mid-engined. The powerplant itself is a turbocharged 1.8-litre unit pushing out nearly 300bhp to the rear wheels. Although performance figures of 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 127mph are being mentioned Toyota is quick to point out that the Aygo Crazy is more about agility and fun, which visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed witnessed first hand, when the F1 drivers present couldn't resist using the car's ample power to carry out manically fast donuts on the hillclimb. Just don't expect Toyota to unleash a production version any time soon. Pity.
