Audi TT

It's fair to say that Audi was one of the main pioneers of the modern-day stylish sports coupé class. When the original TT was unveiled as a concept car, it was welcomed with open arms by media and potential customers alike; so much so that Audi put the car into production with remarkably little deviation from the show car's unique design. I don't need to tell you that the car was a roaring success for Audi. In the past year it was replaced by an all-new model.

It's difficult to reinvent an icon, so Audi instead chose to build on the original TT's core values, such as its distinctive shape and quality interior, rather than attempt to start again. The result is a resounding success. Yes, the new TT bears more than a passing resemblance to the outgoing car, but it's sharper and the detailing is as exquisite as ever. The same can be said for the interior. With forty grand to play with you could even choose the range-topping V6 model, fitted with Audi's excellent S tronic dual-clutch gearbox.
