The Passat R36 is the most potent version of the Volkswagen saloon and estate range yet.
It has just gone on sale in the UK with a 296bhp 3.6-litre V6 engine.
The R36 uses VW's 4Motion four-wheel drive system to cope with all the power.
It also has a six-speed sequential manual gearbox that helps the R36 cover 0-62mph in just 5.8 seconds.
Top speed is electronically limited to 155mph for both the saloon and estate versions.
The R36 is spotted by its new front bumper with deep spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels and 'R36' badges.
It also sits 20mm lower than other Passat models to help with handling and aerodynamics.
Unique sports seats are a feature of the R36's interior, while the steering wheel has paddle shifters attached for the sequential gearbox.
The R36 saloon costs from £30,990 and the estate begins at £32,150. `
