Honda calls the Jazz model a supermini, but its spacious and flexible interior has lead to favourable comparison with most MPVs. This autumn an all-new version goes on sale.
Though the body shell has been completely redesigned, the new Jazz bears more than a passing resemblance to the outgoing car, although certain models come as standard with a new panorama glass roof that adds an extra touch of style to the modern shape.
The new Jazz has grown too, with increases in width and length reflected in a wider front track and a longer wheelbase. The Jazz was already a class leader in terms of interior accommodation and occupants of the new car will have more room than ever.
Honda has also fitted 'Magic Seats' that fold down in one action, while the 'Double-Trunk' boot allows up to 399 litres of luggage, which Honda claims is better than every other car in the B-segment.
Under the bonnet, Honda will offer buyers just two engines and surprisingly, they are both petrol-powered. However, with economy of 55.4mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 120g/km, it could be argued that there is no need for a diesel alternative.
Choose the new 1.4-litre petrol unit and you'll have the option of an improved six-speed i-Shift automated manual gearbox, which reduces emissions to the level of the cheaper 1.2-litre version.
The new Jazz will go on sale in the autumn following a Paris Show debut.
