Nissan shows electric 'Mixim' concept at Frankfurt

Nissan will unveil its Mixim concept at the Frankfurt Show this September. Based on an existing production model, Nissan describes the Mixim as a 'compact vehicle for young drivers who are mostly engaged by their computer and the world via the internet.' Unusually, the driver sits centrally, with passengers positioned either side, the drive controls inspired by the interfaces familiar to computer gamers. In keeping with the futuristic theme the Mixim is also powered by electricity. Super lithium-ion batteries power two Nissan 'Super Motor' electric motor/generators; one positioned on each axle to give the Mixim all-wheel drive. Impressive as the technology is underpinning it the Mixim's most obvious feature is its dramatic styling. A compact coupe shape, its passenger compartment is accessed by two large gull-wing doors.

A large rear hatch also gives access to a generous luggage area, that rear space also containing an additional 'occasional' seat should it be needed. Diamond shaped surface detailing gives it a unique, futuristic appearance inside and out. Nissan states that although the Mixim concept is based on a production model it'll never reach production. Instead the Mixim is a demonstration of Nissan's desire to create a more sustainable mobile society in line with the Nissan Green Programme.
