Audi A6
When's it coming and what is it?
Check out the dealers around September 2004 for the long-awaited replacement for Audi's executive saloon and estate.
Why should I care?
The new A6 will be the first Audi to go on sale with styling based on a new design language that's set to spread across all its models. The new look is sportier and more curvaceous than today's slide-rule perfect Bauhaus style. A new body also means a roomier cabin and independent rear-suspension to benefit the A6's road manners - not a strong point of the current model. Roomier, better handling, better looking - what's not to like?
What makes it really special?
The large 'single-frame' grille, as Audi calls it, sets a trend highly likely to be copied by other car-makers' future models. Also expect a standard-setting interior of luxurious quality and turbine-smooth, yet frugal V6 diesels. And as with the current range of A6s, there will be a super high-performance turbo-petrol version with absolutely sensational performance - even car-mad pop star Jay Kay has a current 450bhp Audi RS6, and will undoubtedly have his name down for the next model.
