Take a ride with our man DP Fitzgerald as he jumps in a cool Mustang and explores the big, the bizarre and the beautiful - everything from a 'dinersaur' park and a ghost town, to the world's biggest thermometer and the mighty Hoover Dam.
Amazingly, when DP gets to Vegas he tracks down the most powerful man on the planet. No joke.
Watch all five legs of the journey in the video below, or click here to see details of the route and recommended stop-offs.

Dream come true. Mustang, full tank, empty road. Where do I sign up?

Thank you for bringing alive some wonderful memories of the road trip my wife and I did in 2008 from Bakersfield to Vegas, then to LA. Baker, Bellagio, big breakfasts, burning sunshine, brilliant!

Hi Jackie Hope you enjoy your trip to Vegas. Your question: has anyone been to the strip? The city of Las Vegas IS THE STRIP, babe. I hope you fly in at night - it's a sight you will never forget. What hotel are you staying in? I've been to Vegas so many times and stayed in just about all the main hotels on the strip. I really love the place. I wasn't a gambler when I first went (or at least I thought I wasn't!!) but I very soon became addicted to the slots. Take plenty of sunscreen with you as it is VERY, VERY HOT at this time of the year; and always have bottled water with you. Again, Jackie, I really hope you have a great time. One thing I would say is please don't forget to tip the waitresses when they bring you a drink in the casinos. The drinks are free as long as you're playing the slots or tables - and those girls work really hard so a dollar a drink is not too much to ask to give them - they rely on their tips as the pay is peanuts.
