Following its World Premiere at the 2008 British International Motor Show, the new Insignia with its bold new identity takes Vauxhall’s design language to the next level. Thanks to its sporty silhouette, class-leading aerodynamics and innovative technology, new Insignia has won extensive praise culminating in a jury of Europe’s top motoring journalists awarding new Insignia the prestigious title of 'Car of the Year 2009'.
With new levels of interior style and quality, obsessive attention to detail and intuitive ergonomics that put the driver fully in control, new Insignia raises Vauxhall’s interior design to a new and impressive level. The striking, wrap-around styling of the facia – a hallmark of new Insignia’s design – puts everything immediately within reach of the driver whilst the single or dual-zone electronic climate control keeps the ambient temperature finely adjusted at all times.
With a load volume of 520 litres (5-door hatchback models) – extendable to 1463 litres with the 60/40 split rear folded and loaded to the roof – the new Insignia features one of the roomiest luggage compartments in its class. The new Insignia Sports Tourer also features Vauxhall’s FlexOrganiser System to easily separate and secure cargo loads.
New Insignia is available with an economical range of engines. All meet Euro 5 emissions standards and come with either manual or automatic six-speed transmissions. Together with one of the lowest drag coefficients in its class (0.27cD), the new Insignia delivers low CO2 emissions and maximum fuel economy.
Choose a new Insignia with FlexRide (Adaptive Stability Technology). There are three driving modes to choose from, including Sport for a more dynamic and responsive drive and Tour for a smoother and more relaxed drive.
Insignia will automatically distribute drive from the front to the rear wheels as conditions demand. The result is maximum traction for smooth, strong acceleration, outstanding driving dynamics and more stability in cornering.
The Intelligent AFL headlights change their lighting pattern to suit the driving conditions. Sensing where you need the light most, they can even help you see around corners. And if something is coming the other way, they dip automatically.
Choose the Front Camera System and the new Insignia will read speed limit signs and display a reminder on the facia, helping you keep safe and legal. Leave your lane without a signal and it can also warn you (available from Summer 2009).
