Speculation has been growing at how Audi would replace the ubiquitous TT coupe. The strongest rumours suggest that Audi would move the successor to the TT upmarket, into more serious sportscar territory. If that is the case, then what exactly is the Shooting Brake concept shown at the Tokyo Motor Show?
The Shooting Brake obviously takes strong design cues from the current TT, in particular around the concept's curved shoulders and side profile. Although the Shooting Brake is a more practical body shape, and previews an aggressive new interpretation of the Audi grille, complete with prominent vertical slats.
We think the Shooting Brake could be a new model to sit below the new sportscar, though it will be a sporting drive in itself: the concept car was fitted with Audi's 3.2-litre V6 and Quattro four-wheel drive along with a clever new adaptive damping system, likely to be seen in an Audi showroom very soon.
