Audi A3 Cabriolet : AN OPEN AND SHORT CASE

Car And Driving - Joining the TT Roadster and the A4 Cabriolet in Audi's collection of soft tops is the junior partner, the A3 Cabriolet. Andy Enright reportsIt's hard to believe that it's been eight years since Audi last launched a new convertible product line. It would have been understandable had their drop tops been slow sellers but the A4 Cabriolet and the TT Roadster have both been standout performers for the Ingolstadt company. To that list, we can finally add a new soft top, the A3 Cabriolet. There's a lot to like about Audi's product philosophy. The company is rarely the first to dive into a particular market sector, instead preferring to sit back, take notes and then launch a thoroughly well developed vehicle that, more often than not, aces the opposition. Audi tends to eschew engineering gimmicks, preferring instead solid, no-nonsense technology that works. In an age where car manufacturers are falling over each other to bring misshapen folding hard top cars to market, Audi hasn't bothered, its two evergreen drop tops, the A4 Cabriolet and the TT Roadster, instead featuring conventional fabric roofs. To that list we can now add the A3 Cabriolet, the company's first foray into the compact cabriolet market. Based on the A3 three door chassis, the Cabriolet is an interesting diversion as it doesn't match up squarely against products from Mercedes, BMW, Lexus or Jaguar. This deviation from Audi's usual script represents a genuine gamble. Audi makes much of the A3 Cabriolet's lower centre of gravity compared to folding hard top cars. This is key because fitting a lot of electric motors, rigid panels and strengthening high in the body, as many folding metal hard-top models do, has all sorts of repercussions for weight distribution. Keep the roof light and compact, as Audi has done, and the suspension isn't given quite such a poser when confronted with a corner. A first look over the A3 Cabriolet suggests it's one of the more focused drop tops. The brakes feature big ventilated discs up front, a specially tuned stability control system has been developed for the car and slick six speed manual gearboxes are standard across the board. As an option, buyers of the 2.0-litre-engined cars can also go for the revolutionary twin-clutch S tronic gearbox with shift paddles mounted behind the steering wheel and a mode that replicates a conventional automatic `box."A first look over the A3 Cabriolet suggests it's one of the more focused drop tops…."Beauty is undoubtedly in the eye of the beholder but of the opinions I canvassed regarding the A3 Cabriolet, few were complimentary, many regarding it as looking squat, dumpy and rather undistinguished. Straightforward conversions of compact hatchbacks rarely make elegant drop tops and the A3 Cabriolet tries hard but can't escape its fundamental short and squat footprint, even if it is 24mm longer than the A3 three-door hatch. Still, Audi has done a good job packaging the car, the hood's compact dimensions meaning that there's enough space for four adults inside. The hood itself can be specified in semi or fully automatic versions, the latter of which includes additional acoustic insulation and raises in just nine seconds at speeds of up to 30km/h. A heated glass rear window is standard and the fully automatic hood can be operated via the key fob. Other highlights are the optional R8-style daytime running LEDs in the headlamp pod. The windscreen is set at the same angle as the hatchback model, which is a welcome relief after the steeply canted screen that designers fit to hard top convertibles in order to try to shorten the roof length. These not only reflect the dash top badly but often cause dangerous blind spots, not something the A3 Cabriolet suffers from. It would be understandable had Audi decided to adopt a toe in the water approach with this model but instead they have decided to go large. As such, there are various different engines to choose from, the main range made up of direct injection powerplants with turbochargers to plump up power and torque. There are two diesels, the first a 104bhp 1.6-litre TDI unit and the second a 138bhp 2.0-litre TDI engine. The petrol engines open with a 102bhp 1.6, then there's the 1.8-litre TFSI unit, good for 158bhp, with the flagship of the line up being the 197bhp 2.0-litre TFSI engine. Prices start at around £20,000, which represents a premium if around £4,000 on a comparable 3-door model. The standard model comes with the semi-automatic roof with electric windows all round. Go for the Sport and you'll get the fully automatic acoustic roof, 17-inch aluminium wheels, front fog lights and sports seats and suspension. Place an order for the S line variant and there's a sports pack and body styling included. As with any in-demand Audi model, expect residuals to be rock solid, for the first three years at the very least. The engines used are all very modern powerplants with a reputation for offering a decent compromise between performance, fuel economy and carbon dioxide emissions. Even the range-topping 2.0-litre TFSI unit sups 95RON at a rate of just 7.6 litres per 100km, which in old money is 37.4mpg. That's a very good return for a car which can get to 60mph in 7 seconds flat and run onto a top speed of 144mph. Of course, if you really want to slash fuel bills, go for one of the two diesel models. Even the more powerful of the two oil burners will return 53.6mpg, yet can crack the sprint to 60mph in just 9.6 seconds. Emissions already undercut the future Euro5 standards. The main reason people buy convertible cars is because they want to look great and any car buff can reel off a string of very successful convertible models that looked fantastic but were actually utter dogs to drive and own. The A3 Cabriolet turns that established logic on its head but it's no great looker. Nevertheless, if it can maintain even 70 per cent of the A3 hatch's driving manners, it'll be the best four seater compact cabriolet by a country mile. All of which brings us back to the original question of whether cabriolet buyers will prefer substance over styling. I have my doubts. Audi has, rather uncharacteristically, taken a risk and jumped into this premium compact cabriolet segment first, abandoning their usual `wait and see' approach. This could get interesting…Facts At A Glance CAR: Audi A3 Cabriolet range PRICES: £19,995-£27,060 on the road INSURANCE GROUPS: 10-16 CO2 EMISSIONS: 109-182g/km PERFORMANCE: [2.0 TFSI] 0-60 7s Max Speed 144mph FUEL CONSUMPTION: [2.0 TDI] 53.6mpg (combined) STANDARD SAFETY FEATURES: Twin front and side airbags, ABS, stability control, steel roll-over bars, Audi integrated head restraint system WILL IT FIT IN YOUR GARAGE?: length/width/height 4238/1765/1424mm

Audi A3 Sportback Range : STRETCHING THE POINT?

Car And Driving - Audi's A3 Sportback offers a little more of what you fancy. Andy Enright takes a look at this elongated A3When we first tried Audi's A3, we thought it a great small car with all the concentrated goodness of a much larger one. But what if you could have a larger version of this successful recipe without getting, well, larger? Such is the thinking behind Audi's A3 Sportback. All right, so in essence, this car is little more than a 5-door version of the 3-door A3. But Audi would like you to see it as more than that. They've tried hard to style it differently (from the middle of the car backwards anyway) and the marketing hype positions the car much more towards the `lifestyle' end of the premium compact market in which all A3s must compete. To be fair, even if you don't buy into all that stuff, the fact that an A3 Sportback is just, model for model, around £500 more than an equivalent 3-door A3 does make it a tempting proposition, even at prices starting from around £16,000. Although it lacks the nuggety compactness of the three-door car, the five-door Sportback isn't a bad looker at all, certainly a good deal easier on the eye than the rather `challenging' BMW 1 Series. An 83mm increase in body length and extra wide opening rear doors adds up to easy accessibility and far better rear knee and head room than its three-door counterpart. Space up front is equally good, the transverse engine and front-wheel drive transmission minimising intrusion into the passenger cell. Quattro four wheel drive is of course offered on certain variants. It's bigger inside than you might expect and 20 litres more luggage room over the three-door model gives a total of 1,220 litres of space with the rear seat folded flat."If you're buying an Audi A3, you can't ignore the Sportback option…"The exterior has been tweaked on this A3 but not in such a radical way that it put the kibosh on the residual value of the previous model. The front wings and the grille are a little shapelier, the headlights are sharper-looking and the side repeaters are now incorporated into the door mirrors. Choose an S line variant and there are LED daytime running lights that ape the R8. The interior has also come in for some treatment, which was needed if this Audi was to retain its perceived quality advantage over much improved versions of more mundane rivals. So it is that this A3 ups the ante with more aluminium design elements, revised switchgear, a better quality instrument cluster and a rethink for the upholstery choices. Quattro four wheel drive is of course offered on certain variants. So to engines. Petrol buyers get a 102bhp 1.6 at the foot of the range, but most opt for one of the turbocharged TFSI engines: either the 125bhp 1.4, the 160bhp 1.8 or the 200bhp 2.0-litre unit. These are powerplants which sit below the 263bhp 2.0TFSI S3 model. The S3 models are fitted with quattro all-wheel drive transmission as standard, something that is also offered as an option on the 2.0T FSI and the 2.0-litre TDI 170 variants. The latest changes to the A3 haven't revolutionised the way it drives. That was always pretty impressive, with even the humblest models riding on multi-link rear suspension. Instead the engineers have concentrated on improving the quality of the driving experience using some high-tech features that have filtered down from loftier points in the Audi range. Audi magnetic ride is one of them. Adaptive action shock absorbers filled with a magneto rheological fluid allow the driver to choose between a comfort-oriented normal mode and a tauter sport mode at the touch of a button. An option on more powerful models, it's the way all cars will soon ride. The S tronic gearbox is also a glimpse of the future. This twin-clutch sequential gearbox can be fitted to the 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI models in six speed form, whereas the 1.6, 1.4 TFSI and 1.8 TFSI petrol engines get the option of a seven-speed system. This system can mimic a full automatic gearbox or the driver can blitz through gearchanges at lightning speed using shift paddles mounted behind the steering wheel. The 2.0-litre 140bhp diesel that many choose offers the sort of performance you'd expect from Audi. It hits 60mph in 9.2 seconds and tops 130mph, which makes it only marginally slower than the equivalent petrol 2.0-litre FSI. Standard safety equipment includes window airbags, electronic stability control, ABS, brake assist, a part-electric power steering system and anti-whiplash head restraints. The cabin has been restyled to offer a little more design flair, Audi realising that high quality alone isn't enough to lure buyers into showrooms. There has to be some style on display too. The fascia struts ape the interior design of the TT, as do the round air vents and chrome-rimmed dials. It's still not what you'd call revolutionary, but it's beautifully executed. The A3 Sportback range is available in standard, SE and Sport trims with the S-line upgrade pack to consider. An optional Open Sky twin sunroof system is also available for order. The A3 Sportback is a good example of the kind of product development which has seen Audi sales sky-rocket in this country. If you're buying an A3, you can't ignore it. And the same is probably true if you're buying virtually any other rival in this sector.Facts At A Glance CAR: Audi A3 Sportback range PRICES: £15,805-£26,525 - on the road INSURANCE GROUPS: 9-18 CO2 EMISSIONS: 109-199g/km PERFORMANCE: [2.0T FSI] 0-60mph 6.9s / Max Speed 150mph FUEL CONSUMPTION: [1.4 TFSI] (combined) 43.5mpg STANDARD SAFETY FEATURES: Twin front, side and window airbags, electronic stability control, ABS, BAS WILL IT FIT IN YOUR GARAGE?: Length/Width/Height 4271/1765/1421mm

Audi A3 S-Line Range : FORM A DISORDERLY LINE

Car And Driving - The S-Line Models Bring An Added Sporting Dimension To The Upper Echelons Of Audi's A3 Range. Steve Walker Reports…The criticism has been levelled at Audi's A3 that it isn't sporty enough. To some extent you can see what the snipers are getting at. This may be Audi's entry-level offering but when you get behind the wheel, that big car feel is very much in evidence. Even for drivers of the sportier derivatives in the range, the styling is understated while the overriding impression is of something much more substantial and sensible than a mere hot hatch. Mind you, that's not to say the range can't accommodate models that display their performance car qualities more flamboyantly. Models like the S-Line - the A3 with additional attitude. In the A3 range, S-Line is more of an options pack than a trim level in its own right. It's a collection of desirable extras that buyers of selected A3 models can bolt on to add a touch more visual dynamism. The S-Line pack does nothing to actually enhance the car's handling or performance but it makes the A3 look meaner from most of the angles that matter. S Line is now offered with all the latest, facelifted three-door and Sportback models in the A3 range but not with the entry-level petrol and diesel engine options. Whereas availability was previously limited to cars with quattro four-wheel-drive and/or the ground-breaking S Tronic direct shift gearbox, now almost everyone can get in on the act. The only proviso is that you must order your car with the Sport trim level before you can upgrade to S-Line. On the current, facelifted model, the front wings and the grille are a little shapelier, the headlights are sharper-looking and the side repeaters are now incorporated into the door mirrors. The S-Line package costs an extra £1,550 on top of the Sport trim level, which means that the cheapest S-Line you'll be able to lay your hands on is the 3-door 1.6-litre petrol model at around £18,500 or as a five-door Sportback for around £19,000. Of course, the 102PS 1.6 can't really live up to the S-Line pack's sporty billing and buyers with the means would be much better going for the 200PS 2.0 TFSI models. These start at around £23,000 (or £500 more for the Sportback version) but there is a 160PS 1.8-litre TFSI unit starting at around £20,000. The 2.0-litre quattro with the 6-speed S tronic box costs from around £26,000. The prospect of paying these sums for a performance hatchback is a sobering one but, as we've already indicated, the A3 is not what you'd term Max Power fodder."The S-Line pack does nothing to actually enhance the car's handling or performance but it makes the A3 look meaner from most of the angles that matter"The impact of the basic S-Line kit is mainly felt on the inside of the car. There's a three-spoke perforated leather steering wheel, a perforated leather gearknob and illuminated vanity mirrors for A3 buyers who need to check on their elaborate fly-away hairstyles. Buyers also benefit from touches of brushed aluminium dotted around the cabin and black headlining adding to the moody interior ambiance. The sports seats are suitably plush in full Vienna leather. All of this comes on top of what's offered in Sport trim, namely electronic climate control, a Concert II CD stereo and, perhaps most saliently, sports suspension. The S-Line models get an upgraded external appearance with a set of 18" `5 arm' alloy wheels and S-Line badging tastefully positioned around the car as well as the fog lights and side sills that come with the Sport. There's also a spoiler mounted on the roof at the back, an S-Line radiator grille and deeper, more aggressive-looking bumpers front and rear. For the £1,550 price premium, you've got an A3 that will have everyone rubbernecking. The 2.0-litre TDI 140 diesel and 2.0-litre TFSI powerplants that many S-Line buyers choose offer a nice blend of rational, cost-effective motoring and performance. The 2.0-litre TDI 140 has 140PS and it can reach 62mph in 9.4 seconds. The engine can also manage a creditable 55.4mpg on the combined cycle, so once you've shelled out the initial asking price, your wallet won't take another pummelling at the pumps. Compare the TDI 140 model's fuel consumption with the 39.2mpg average posted by the 280PS 2-litre petrol car and you'll begin to appreciate why the diesel is the penny pincher's choice.! Put your foot to the floor, where conditions allow, in an Audi A3 S-Line 2-0litre TSFI manual and you'll reach the 62mph barrier in 7s but you'll still be measly two tenths of a second behind the S Tronic version. That's straight-line performance which puts both these A3 S-Line models firmly in the ballpark populated by top hot hatchbacks. Think Renaultsport Megane, Honda Civic Type-R and the benchmark Golf GTi. If you want to go faster, there's always the savage 265PS S3. Audi positions its hatchback in the class above, vying with products like the Mercedes-Benz Sports Coupe and the quicker BMW's 1-Series derivatives. In this company, the A3 still seems a little on the expensive side but its performance looks strong and you can get four-wheel drive as well as that S Tronic gearbox. The S-Line package gives the A3 an added sporting edge for buyers who might not favour the understated approach that Audi usually take when styling their cars. The 1.4 TFSI and the 2.0-litre TDi 140 engine are the value for money choices and the more powerful TDI 170 is a good all-rounder but the 1.8T, 2.0T and 2.0-litre quattro versions are sportier in feel and that will be the bottom line for many. The super-focused S3 model aside, the S-Line models represent the pinnacle of the line-up and they make a darn fine job of it.Facts At A Glance CAR: Audi A3 S-Line range PRICES: £18,590-£26,525 - on the road INSURANCE GROUPS: 11-18 CO2 EMISSIONS: 109-254g/km PERFORMANCE: [2.0 TDI 140 S Tronic] 0-62mph 8.9s / Max Speed 129mph FUEL CONSUMPTION: [2.0 TDi 140 S Tronic] (combined) 52.3mpg STANDARD SAFETY FEATURES: Twin front, side and window airbags, electronic stability control, ABS, WILL IT FIT IN YOUR GARAGE?: Length/Width/Height 4203/1765/1421mm

Audi A3 Range : THREE TO THE FORE

Car And Driving - Audi is in the process of gradually sharpening up the A3 and the latest round of revisions only makes it more desirable. Andy Enright reports "I deserve this." It's a justification that can lead to all manner of financial meltdowns but in the case of the Audi A3, it's possible to have your cake and eat it. The most beautifully built hatchback money can buy, the A3 even works out on the balance sheet. The latest revisions tweak the formula to add more presence and improve quality.Ingrained opinions are odd things. Take the Audi A3 as a case study. Received wisdom has it that the A3 is the best built small hatch that money can buy. Or at least it seems that way, the interior quality and badge equity pushing us in a certain respect to believe that cars of this type come no better than this. Yet if we were to examine warranty claims, would you expect the A3 to beat a Toyota Corolla? Therein lies the difference between perceived and actual quality. Perceived quality is where Audi has made some serious coin. Let that mask slip and the whole house of cards falls down. Quality is easy to express in a car costing £70,000. In a volume model costing less than £20,000, the manufacturers need to be very clever and the latest Audi A3 is prima facie evidence of the Ingolstadt company's corporate nous. The latest changes to the A3 haven't revolutionised the way it drives. Instead they have concentrated on improving the quality of the driving experience using some high-tech features that have filtered down from loftier points in the Audi canon. Audi magnetic ride is one of them. Adaptive action shock absorbers filled with a magneto rheological fluid allow the driver to choose between a comfort-oriented normal mode and a tauter sport mode at the touch of a button. An option on 1.8 TFSI, 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI diesel models, it's the way all cars will soon ride. The S tronic gearbox is also a glimpse of the future. This twin-clutch sequential gearbox can be fitted to the 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI models in six speed form, where the 1.6, 1.4 TFSI and 1.8 TFSI petrol engines get the option of a seven-speed system. This system can mimic a full automatic gearbox or the driver can blitz through gearchanges at lightning speed using shift paddles mounted behind the steering wheel. The 2.0-litre 140bhp diesel offers the sort of performance you'd expect from Audi. It hits 60mph in 9.2 seconds and tops 130mph."The A3 has always been a great small car that feels like the concentrated goodness of a great big car. Nothing's changed"The exterior has been tweaked but not in such a radical way that it put the kibosh on the residual value of the previous model. The front wings and the grille are a little shapelier, the headlights are sharper-looking and the side repeaters are now incorporated into the door mirrors. Choose an S line variant and there are LED daytime running lights that ape the R8. The changes to the three-door car add 2.5cm to its length, while the five-door Sportback model's dimensions remain unchanged. The interior has also come in for some treatment. Believe it or not, but the previous A3 was just starting to look a little off the pace in this department. Even far more mundane cars like the Vauxhall Astra and the Fiat Bravo were beginning to show Audi the way forward in terms of materials quality. The latest A3 ups the ante with more aluminium design elements, revised switchgear, a better quality instrument cluster and a rethink for the upholstery choices. Quattro four wheel drive is of course offered on certain variants. The luggage compartment of the three-door car features 350/1,080 litres of fresh air with rear seats in place and then folded, just pipped by the 370/1,220 litres of the Sportback. The A3 range has long been one of dizzying complexity and the latest model (priced in the same £15,000 to £30,000 bracket) changes very little. As well as chooing between four petrol engines and three diesel versions, there's also standard, Sportback and Convertible body styles to choose from. Then you'll need to figure out whether you want to stick with a manual gearbox and clutch pedal or upgrade to the too-cool-for-school S tronic transmission. You're not finished yet. Quattro four-wheel drive or front-wheel drive? Specifying an A3 is almost like ordering a cheese and ham roll in a New York deli. At a nominal extra cost, model-for-model, it's probably worth seriously considering the Sportback option, even if you don't really need the extra doors. Many A3 buyers upgrade their cars to Sport and S line specifications, trim levels tweaked by the UK importers to include an upgraded sports suspension kit with modified spring and damper settings designed to improve ride comfort without compromising on agility. For around £1,500 over the cost of a Sport-trimmed model, the S line variants include full leather trim, 18-inch alloy wheels, S line badging, a more aggressive front and rear bumper design and a roof spoiler. The range-topping 265bhp S3 model is now available as a Sportback model as well as a three-door. Smart customers have long known the secret to running an Audi A3. Whereas some are deterred by the asking price, the more salient number is the three-year cost per mile figure. This is where Audi exacts revenge on its lower-priced rivals. In boasting healthy residuals, the A3 drives down the total cost to the owner quite significantly. This does need to be balanced against the fact that you will be able to buy a bigger-engined rival for about the same running cost as a better quality A3. Swings and roundabouts. That said, the A3 range features a number of extremely fuel efficient engines. The 1.6-litre TDI will average over 68mpg and even the sporty 197bhp 2.0 TFSI powerplant will eke around 35 miles from a gallon. The S3 will also manage over 27mpg. Carbon dioxide emissions are also kept well in check right across the range with the 1.6 and 2.0-litre diesels being especially sought after in this regard by company user-choosers. The A3 three-door has always been a great small car that feels like the concentrated goodness of a great big car. Nothing's changed. You'll still want one as soon as your strides hits the seat. This model sees Audi realise that the competition has been busy copying and, in certain cases, bettering the Germans when it comes to interior quality. Consider the status quo re-established with this car. Highlights of the line up include the S3 Sportback, the seven-speed S tronic gearbox option for fast but fuel efficient models like the 125bhp 1.4 TFSI and the all-round brilliance of the 2.0 TFSI model. With robust residual values, the A3 might look initially expensive but as the miles rack up, the maths then begin to swing in the Audi owner's favour. The latest A3 is a car that you can buy with you heart as well as your head. Just try not to look too smug, OK?Facts At A Glance CAR: Audi A3 range PRICES: £15,265-£28,015 - on the road INSURANCE GROUPS: 9-18 CO2 EMISSIONS: 109-199g/km PERFORMANCE: [2.0 TSI] 0-60mph 6.6s / Max Speed 147mph FUEL CONSUMPTION: [1.6 FSI] (combined) 41.5mpg STANDARD SAFETY FEATURES: Twin front, side and window airbags, electronic stability control, ABS, BAS WILL IT FIT IN YOUR GARAGE?: Length/Width/Height (3dr) 4228/1765/1421mm

Audi A3 : SHE'S A BRICK HOUSE

Car And Driving - Audi's impeccably built A3 may bring to mind the Commodores classic, but there's nothing retro about this well-built baby. June Neary reports…I must admit to a penchant for small Audis. No, scrub that - any Audi. They seem so well screwed together and so nicely understated that they appeal to my more mature side. The A3 is no exception and from behind the wheel you really do feel as if you're in a much bigger and more expensive car. The bright yellow of the A3 2.0-litre TDI 140 diesel that we had delivered took a little getting used to but it's difficult not to be seduced by an interior that feels bulletproof and doors that thunk shut with all the security of a bank vault. The shape's been tweaked recently but not radically. The front wings and the grille are a little shapelier, the headlights are sharper-looking and the side repeaters are now incorporated into the door mirrors. Choose an S line variant and there are LED daytime running lights that ape the R8. The changes to the three-door car add 2.5cm to its length, while the five-door Sportback model's dimensions remain unchanged.I liked the latest interior changes. To be honest, I had thought that the A3 was just starting to look a little off the pace in this department. The luggage compartment of the three-door car I tried features 350/1,080 litres of fresh air with rear seats in place and then folded, just pipped by the 370/1,220 litres of the Sportback. The A3 certainly offers a few mouthwatering selections. Increasingly popular are the diesel units - and there's a choice between an entry-level 105bhp 1.6-litre TDI powerplant or 140 and 170bhp versions of the more advanced 2.0 TDI engine at prices from around £17,000. Petrol buyers usually opt for one of the turbocharged TFSI engines: either the 125bhp 1.4, the 160bhp 1.8 or the 200bhp 2.0-litre unit. The S3 uses a version of the 2.0-litre Turbo engine which is tuned to achieve 263bhp and heart-stopping performance. The S tronic gearbox in the car I tried is a glimpse of the future. If the A3 was a premium lager it would doubtless be referred to as reassuringly expensive. Prices are a good deal more than you can expect to pay for something like a more mainstream Ford or Vauxhall but many will consider it a fair price given the overall aura of quality. The latest Audi A3 is a car that generates few complaints. It's not too showy - even in yellow - and offers solid engineering and a huge feel good factor. Perhaps the only area where its possible to grouse is over the pricing, especially when you consider that it's based around more humble Golf running gear. If you can swallow the chunky up front asking price, you'll be rewarded with a car that does everything very well in a quiet, unruffled manner. I for one was sorry to see it go.
