We're not far into 2011 and already we've seen some of the most bizarre motoring mishaps ever. The mindboggling clips below show both moments of madness and amazing misfortune. See for yourself.
1: Flipping snow
The driver that could do this a second time would become a very wealthy stuntman indeed. Parts of the US have been battered by snow this winter. That usually means the odd tricky hill start (or stop), but as this Chicago driver discovered, sometimes it can mean performing an accidental automotive handstand. Amazingly, the driver crawled out unhurt.
2: Four-by-FORE!
It's all very well setting up a neat demonstration to show your chums the rock-climbing capabilities of your new 4x4, but this person forgot the golden rule, however: gravity. Maybe one day someone will invent tyres that cling to vertical surfaces. Until then, remember that four-wheel drive can't beat Mother Nature. Our 'star's' friend confirmed that he was unhurt by the incident.
3: Breach buggy
Who among us hasn't wanted to drive our beach buggy across a recently frozen pond? What could possibly go wrong? These two thoughtless drivers were, mercifully, unharmed, but only because their reaction times are infinitely sharper than their combined brains.
4: Truck dump
How this truck ended up so precariously balanced on the edge of the lake only the people in this footage know. That may have been beyond anyone's control. It's a minor miracle that the driver got the door open and to the surface in time - looks quite thick, that boggy lake.
5: Snow holes barred
How much snow does it take to conceal a hole big enough to swallow a snowplough? Six inches, according to this news report. Fortunately for you and me, we weren't the ones driving a snowplough in Georgia when this fact became abundantly clear. The person behind the wheel emerged cold but unscathed.
