Aston Martin has taken the wraps off its latest model- with James Bond likely to be salivating at the prospect of his next company car.
Sharp and speedy: The new Aston Martin VanquishThe stunning Aston Martin Vanquish is the replacement for the outgoing DBS, the car of choice for Daniel Craig in his first two Bond movies. Bond drives a 1960s DB5 in the latest film, but it will only be a matter of time before 007 gets his hands on the £189,995 Vanquish.
Under the bonnet of the new model has a massive 6-litre V12 engine which develops 565bhp and 457lb/ft of pulling power. This gives the Vanquish, which uses a six-speed paddleshift gearbox, a 0-62 mph time of just 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 183mph.
The Vanquish lags behind the Ferrari FF in terms of performance but the car’s looks are likely to appeal to well-heeled customers. Billed as "the ultimate expression of Aston Martin design ethos", the Vanquish takes inspiration from the One-77, a £1.2m limited edition model.
Engineers at Aston Martin have used a wrath of technologies to make the muscular new Vanquish comfortable enough to cross continents with ease. The body is made of carbon fibre which makes it lighter and stiffer, which improves the car’s sports car-like driving dynamics.
It is also more practical, with Aston fitting the Vanquish with a 368-litre boot - a 60% increase of the outgoing DBS.
Dr Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin, claims the Vanquish will offer "luxurious, continent-crossing capability and pure driving excitement without compromise".
“This is the latest incarnation of everything we know, informed and developed from One-77,” he said.
“It is the ultimate Super Grand Tourer - confident and assured - and is the newest representation of Power, Beauty and Soul. I believe the car unveiled today once again puts this great British brand at the top of its class.”
The new Vanquish is available to order £189,995 with first deliveries expected by the end of the year.
