Bugatti reveals one-off Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse - worth a cool £2m

With the roof down the Veyron is limited to 235mph which is more than three times the UK speed limit

Supercar firm Bugatti has unveiled an exclusive one-off edition of the world’s fastest convertible which costs the small matter of £2 million.

The one of a kind Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse has been inspired by the T37A - a Grand Prix winning sports car from the 1920s.

But while the supercharged T37A boasted 90bhp, the unique Veyron has thirteen times as much speed, boasting a staggering 1,200bhp.

This gives the four-wheel drive supercar a 0-62mph time of 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 255mph.

With the roof down the Veyron is limited to 235mph - still more than three times the UK speed limit.

The model’s paintwork has been inspired by the 1928 Bugatti Type 37A, a Bianco and blue Grand Prix car which won a number of races during the Twenties.

US chat show host Jay Leno owns the original Type 37A - the racecar is one of the star vehicles in his multi-million pound collection.

The one-off Grand Sport Vitesse, which Bugatti has sold to an anonymous customer, will make its global debut at the Doha Motor Show in Qatar which opens January 29.

It is an upgraded version of the already rapid Veyron Grand Sport, with Bugatti increasing power by 199bhp.

On top of the performance increases, Bugatti - which is owned by Volkswagen - made a number of bodywork modifications to improve the car's handling and aerodynamics.
