Geneva 2010: Volvo S60

- A new styling direction for Volvo - Pedestrian detection with automatic braking - Sportiest Volvo saloon ever

Volvo has introduced its best-looking saloon to date. It also that promises the new S60 will be the best to drive.

What's all the fuss about?

The fuss is all about its styling, but the S60 should be great to drive too. That's because it has a 'dynamic chassis', which is tuned for far sportier driving than the outgoing car. The suspension is stiffer and the steering sharper, but apparently that's not at the expense of comfort.

Anything that stands out?

At the unveil Volvo showed us a video of its new pedestrian detection with automatic braking system in action. Basically, a camera detects people on the kerb, and will brake to a complete stop if someone steps in front of the car. It'll stop for cars too, unsurprisingly.

Estimated release date: Summer 2010.

Estimated cost: From around £20,000 but to be confirmed.
