Over the last seven years the proprietors of the LA Auto Show have asked car companies to submit the weirdest, most wonderful, most outlandish designs they can think of to the LA Design Challenge. Each year there's a theme, which for 2010 is 'minimising consumption of the earth's resources'. Entries had to seat four people and weigh less than 1,000lb (454kg). Nine companies including Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Nissan and Volvo have taken part this year. Here's what they did.
