UK's biggest free motor show gets started

The 2010 London Motorexpo kicked off this week in the capital's Canary Wharf and plays host to a number of UK debuts.

Motorexpo is the largest free motor show in the UK and among the cars on display are the new Mini Countryman, Volvo S60, Saab 9-5 and Bentley's 200mph Continental Supersports Convertible.

Also on show for the first time on at Motorexpo are the Mercedes E Class Cabriolet, Jaguar XKR with Speedpack, Mazda MX-5 Superlight concept and the amazing Mercedes SLS AMG.

New luxury brand Infiniti is using Motorexpo to unveil its own in-house performance models, called M Line, which offer personalised upgrades to customers.

Nigel Mansell is even taking time out from his preparations for the Le Mans 24 Hours race to visit Motorexpo to launch an extreme cycling challenge as part of the motor show's partnership with the charity UK Youth.

The challenge is to ride 1,200 miles around the UK in just 13 days and former F1 World Champion Mansell will be taking part with his two sons to raise money and awareness of the UK Youth charity.

Still on two wheels, two British motorcycle makers are displaying their new machines. Triumph has its latest Bonneville and Rocket III bikes on show, while Norton is unveiling its new Commando 961 Sport and Café Racer models.

As well as the static displays, Motorexpo offers visitors the chance to try the Land Rover Driving Experience. Despite the summer weather, this specially built course gives drivers the chance to sample the British 4x4s on simulated icy roads, steep slopes and rutted terrain right in the heart of Canary Wharf.

Visitors can also sample the amazing Can-Am Spyder three-wheeler in a special test zone and this high performance trike can be ridden with just a full driving licence rather than a motor cycle licence.

If real-world driving doesn't grab you, Skoda has provided a virtual rallying experience with its racing machines that give a taste of what it's like to be behind the wheel of one of the company's Fabia S2000 rally cars.

If you want to be one of the estimated 400,000 visitors to the 2010 London Motorexpo, the show runs from Monday 7 June till Sunday 13 June at Canary Wharf and entry is completely free for everyone. 7 June
